History of the Department of State and Local Administration

 The Department of State and Local Administration was established within the structure of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration on the basis of the Rector’s Order of the Tajik State Financial and Economic University “On the Establishment of Departments within the Structural Units of Faculties and the allocation of fields of study and specializations among them” dated July 7, 2025, No. 90/11-a.

The establishment of the Department corresponds to the requirements for the development of the public administration system, the improvement of state economic policy, and the training of highly qualified specialists for state and local government bodies. The Department functions as one of the key educational and research units of the faculty.

On the basis of this order, the Department of State and Local Administration is entrusted with the training of specialists in the following fields of study:

  1. 1-260101 – Public Administration;
  2. 1-26010301 – State Regulation of the National Economy;
  3. 1-26010101 – Management of Local Self-Government Bodies.

As an integral part of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration, the Department of State and Local Administration makes a significant contribution to the training of professional specialists in the fields of public administration, state regulation of the national economy, and management of local authorities. The Department’s activities are aimed at developing students’ knowledge, skills, and professional competencies and meet the requirements of the modern labor market.

The Department’s activities in the areas of education, teaching and methodology, research, international cooperation, and educational work are organized and carried out regularly in accordance with approved plans and the requirements of the University Charter and administration. The Department places primary emphasis on improving the quality of education by using modern teaching methods and adapting educational programs to contemporary requirements.

In its activities, the Department sets as its main objective the training of competitive and highly qualified specialists with modern managerial thinking and gives priority to ensuring that graduates’ training meets the demands of the labor market.

At present, the Department of State and Local Administration employs 8 staff members, including 5 full-time academic staff, 2 internal part-time staff, and 1 technical staff member. In particular, the Department employs 1 Candidate of Economic Sciences (Associate Professor), 1 Candidate of Economic Sciences (Senior Lecturer), and 5 assistants, who carry out teaching and student training with a high level of responsibility.

In addition to educational activities, the Department’s staff actively participate in research work, the development of teaching materials, scientific conferences, and academic cooperation, which contributes to the further development of the Department and enhances the prestige of the University.
